Reflection…

In moments of speed, momentum and pace there are these little pockets of time that hold space to sit. Whether it be over a long period or for a split second. No matter how frequent I have found that it is an essential part along the journey. My Bishop recently shared that this would be a year where God takes us on a scenic route as he continues to push us closer and farther into our destiny and purpose. This is something I have been keeping at the forefront of my mind through every high, mid and low I have encountered thus far. Imagine yourself going on a 16 hour road trip. I remember when my family and I did this when we were heading to South Carolina to visit my late great Grandad. It is a potent memory I am reminded of from time to time. Specifically, I can still see the image of the green pasture. It stretched so far across the land it looked like it had no ending or beginning. It was breath taking to observe and take in its vivid snapshot.

Recently, I found myself reading the book of Lamentations before writing this blog post. I was reminded that these pockets of time are a space full of the wonders and discoveries reflection has both to give and offer. Often times when we reflect there is a tendency to push and rush past the hard moments or places where light has been added to dark areas for you to see. I am a witness of this numerous times throughout my life where I can recall not allowing myself to truly sit in it. When we sit it requires certain motor functions to be shut off. There is no longer any good use of our legs or feet. We can enter into relaxation mode because we no longer need the strength that is required to hold ourselves up. Instead there is a sub sequential leaning that begins to take place. Out of a way for a new one. A fresh and reloaded perspective that is needed now in order to continue holding fast to the dream, vision, or goal you’ve set your eyes on to achieve.

I want to offer and invite you to fully let yourself sit in these moments when they occur. Allow yourself to recall to memory. As you walk down the lane of remembrance keep what you’ve gained thus far in this new. Let it all settle in. But also allow the view of past and old mistakes to fuel you to continue to remain humble, aware, and with a new reaffirming hope that is not ashamed. Instead it is empowered because you understand where you have been and where you are going.

So I will leave you with this. We have been moving thus far in this year of 2024. Believing God and holding in to our Faith. Continue to keep this going but know even in that it is ok to pause in remembrance. To reassess and reflect so that as you succeed and progress, you wont lose the softness remembrance pours into you to remind you of where you’ve been.
