Hold Fast…

I am going to ask you to do something that may seem unusual or unfamiliar but I want you to take a step out of your comfort zone for a second. Allow yourself to be fully present in this next task so that you can take in all that is available. Hopefully by now you have calmed down and are ready for the steps that will follow thereafter. I would like for you to do something really simple. Take a moment to look down at your hands. Observe the way it looks, feels and all of the different textures in one. Then I would like for you to begin to close your hand and open it. Go through each passing wave of tension and keep note of it. There are a lot of small muscles found within the hand that make it bend, flex, and release. The most important and biggest contributor to having a sustainable grip is the: Flexor Digitorum Profundus. Lately, I have been thinking about what it means to have a strong grip. It may seem small and minuscule but the motor behind it matters. Anatomically we can see it as the muscle described to you earlier.

But when I think of grip I am also associating this with my ability to retain information. Last week we discussed The Art of Gathering and we were able to find and assess many things we already possess and have been given.

After such a space and place of discovery it is imperative that afterwards there is a deep profound understanding of how essential it is to keep what’s been brought to light. Whenever things that have been slumbered or dormant has a light that shines on it there should be an immediate recognition and a hopefulness that emerges. In this hope what is required more than ever is a strong grip. There were plenty of times in my life where I had hope but with no grip whatsoever to be able to keep it. I was pacing my hope in the wrong places and became too distracted to be able to hear the instructions that came with it.

God recently led me to a scripture in Proverbs 4:13, “Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her for she is thy life.”The moment I began to pull apart this scripture what stood out to me the most was; Take fast, instruction, keep. All of these components within this packed scripture immediately imprinted in me an entirely new perspective concerning the value of instruction. Often times we don’t always see the importance behind it but it requires a level of strength within our grip to receive, maintain, and obtain. When we make this crucial choice to hold fast this is exactly what is transpiring. A strength in our grip is being solidified even the more as we continue to keep holding on to the instructions received. This is how dope God truly is! He already knows what will happen before it even starts and in that all he requires is two words: Hold Fast.

I will leave you with this: often times we overcomplicate simple things due to our reasoning, lack of ability to withstand unprecedented moments, and the list can go on and on. What I want to offer to you is to make the choice to choose the simple. Heed to the instructions, obey,  don’t let it go, and keep holding fast. You will be thoroughly surprised how much stronger you are going to come out in the end and how it can have a direct affect on all of those around you.
