Have you ever took a moment to think about if your hope is in fact alive or not.
Lately, that has been something I have been pondering and most definitely been challenged in. We can say we have hope easily when asked because its something we immediately associate in our minds as always being there. But what happens when that hope now has to be turned on and activated in a new place where old memories try to stain it. That recollection of memory can be a very dangerous thing. If you do not have the maturity to look back and not allow yourself to sit or relive a place you have been well brought out of already. Seeing the other side of it is not always easy. It comes with an unlearning and removal of muscle memory to be or think a certain way. When God was starting to deal with me regarding my hope I realized that there was still some residue of past scarred hope full of expectations that did not live up to what I had perceived it to be in my mind. That was not always easy to process or to even sit in but I had no other choice too. It was either sit in it or run away.
At this point in my life running away seems very immature and and unnecessary. It leaves you with an open end along with loops that in no way is aiding you to continue to go farther than the place you may be in.
The more we run away from it the farther we are from any sense of settlement or cross over to the other side. In order to do that there has to be a fight in you to face it head on. Even if you may be surprised or sad in the moment you still have the ability to stand in spite of and in the midst of. Active hope in you allows the kicking for the more to begin to bud and expand even the more. A lazy approach keeps you lullabied. Change the approach for a broadening of understanding thats beyond where your eyes or thoughts have gone or reached.
I dare to say that even passivity is a little too low as well. Hope shouldn’t just be something that passes you by. It is a living and breathing application that requires your participation to keep it going.
So I leave you with this….every now and then take a moment to double check the status of your hope. Look to see what the light level its on. If its on red turn it up a few notches. If its on yellow add a little more to it. Gage the signal and make the right turn to active hope day in and day out.
